I have copies of old Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 mostly just for browser testing and debugging email, but are rarely needed these days. My stand-alone, custom built PC running Windows 11 is for gaming, primarily.
Tips
Start Fresh
If you purchased a computer with Windows pre-installed, try re-formatting and starting with a fresh install of the operating system. Pre-installed PC’s usually have a ton of useless programs, ads and spyware that can potentially slow your system down. (Note: be sure you’ve got the original install discs PRIOR to reformatting.)
Windows on Mac
If you’re on an Intel Mac and have the space, Bootcamp let’s you dual-boot Windows and OS X which will give you a much faster version of Windows than you’d get in Parallels or VMWare.
