I use Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 mostly just for browser testing and debugging email. These are all run with VMWare to virtualize all of these OSes all on my primary OS X machine. I do have a stand-alone PC running Windows 10 for all my gaming needs, but that’s not really a machine for “work”.
Tips
Start Fresh
If you purchased a computer with Windows pre-installed, try re-formatting and starting with a fresh install of the operating system. Pre-installed PC’s usually have a ton of useless programs, ads and spyware that can potentially slow your system down. (Note: be sure you’ve got the original install discs PRIOR to reformatting.)
Windows on Mac
If you’re on a Mac and have the space, Bootcamp let’s you dual-boot Windows and OS X which will give you a much faster version of Windows than you’d get in Parallels or VMWare.
